Phantasm
Ringsted Galleriet, DK
Print on textile, 2011
The work is inspired by contemporary experience economical strategies surrounding the art of today.
The world known beer brand Carlsberg have had their factory of production located in Copenhagen (DK) up until 2006, where they moved the production site to Fredericia (DK). In 2008 Carlsberg introduced a culture economical strategy, inviting workers of culture to rent the empty spaces for favourable prices. Here including artists’ studios and art galleries. Today (2011), the Carlsberg factories represents Copenhagen’s leading hot spot for culture. My studio has been located at Carlsberg since 2009.
The installation is a semi-transparent representation of the walls of my studio and vaguely shows traces of work that have been made there. The semi-transparent walls mimic the idea, that the art studio included in an experience economy strategy works as a double-sided space. A room for material production and at the same time an unclear site for immaterial labour.
